The administrator of Parque Central, Rafael Butchart, reported over 15 attempts to abandon animals at the entrance of the park during the last week and a half. The wildlife in Parque Central is inventoried and under permanent monitoring. According to Butchart, most of the attempts to abandon animals occurred at the park's entrances, where the abandoned animals are found. The park administrator assured that the wildlife in Parque Central is in good health and that there are no health problems among the animals. However, Butchart acknowledged that the presence of abandoned animals in the park can be a problem for the health of the existing animals. "Abandoning animal species is a federal crime," Butchart reminded. "It's essential that citizens do not use the park as a site to leave pets." The administration of Parque Central has received around 1.1 million visitors so far this year, making it difficult to monitor all entrances and prevent such behavior entirely. In response, the coordination reiterated the call to avoid abandoning animals and to seek the corresponding instances if unable to care for them.
